Patricia has been a leading force in healthcare communications on the West Coast for over 20 years. With a background in critical care nursing and English Literature, she long ago decided to combine her love of health and writing and apply them to healthcare advertising.
She started her career at Sudler & Hennessey in New York, where she gained experience on launch teams in arenas such as cardiology, neurology, oncology, dermatology and consumer healthcare. After years of working with NY agencies and moving up in the ranks, Patricia moved to San Francisco to found Stratagem Healthcare Communications — a highly regarded top-tier, independently owned West Coast healthcare communications agency. Stratagem was consistently recognized by the Bay Area Business Times as one of the Fastest Growing Women-owned businesses in the Bay Area.
Under Patricia’s creative leadership, her agency won numerous top industry awards for creativity in both pharma and device for clients such as Amgen, Genentech, Biogen IDEC, Bayer, Lumenis, Roche, Neutrogena, Philips and L’Oreal.
Most recently, Patricia was Managing Director, Creative for the San Francisco office of DDB Health, leading teams on brands for Amgen, Novartis and Genentech. But a strong desire to return to her entrepreneurial roots drove her to partner with Robert Finkel and help build the FreshBlood model.
Patricia holds a BSN in professional nursing, and a BA in English Literature from the University of Vermont. In a former life, she was an ICU/CCU charge nurse at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

After a robust career as a senior creative executive working with major agencies and brands, he and a former business partner opened Kane & Finkel Healthcare Communications in 1997. With offices in San Francisco and London, Kane & Finkel was consistently ranked among the top 30 healthcare agencies in the US and was also recognized as the number one independent healthcare agency on the West Coast for 15 years. The firm won countless awards for its successful work with the largest brands in the industry, including J&J, Gilead, Genentech, Merck, Bayer, P&G, and many others.
In 2014, Bob started FreshBlood Consulting, a progressive business model helping emerging bioscience companies find their strategic footing through brand positioning, commercial operations management and interim creative services. Over time, client demand has fueled FreshBlood’s expansion, resulting in the launch of a dedicated, best-in-class creative arm and a strategic reorganization. Now, both consulting and creative divisions operate under the banner of FreshBlood Group, which uniquely delivers a full range of mission critical, upstream/downstream solutions for the healthcare marketplace.
